Batch It Pro v5.65 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Batch It Pro v5.65. In this update, we updated the user interface with a smaller icon toolbar. This will provide you with more file listing space.

Code Signing and Price Cuts

We have thought long and hard and it appears that Microsoft vision of the future of Windows is where Windows apps are sold off the Windows Store. Microsoft hit the 500 million active computers using Windows 10, it would definitely make sense.

In 2017, we began migrating the bulk of our applications to the Windows Store. It was definitely not without issues but as they said, it gets easier with practise.

Over the years, despite having obtain the necessary code-signing certificate, our applications’ installer download still prompts the SmartScreen Warning. As such, we have decided not to renew our code signing certificate in the coming year.

We will still be distributing our Windows applications on our website and on the Windows Store. With the cost savings from the various procedures needed to get certified for a code signing certificate and the cost of the certificate itself, we have decided it’s best to pass the savings to you. With immediate effect, we have reduced the prices of our Windows applications sold via FastSpring through our website comes with between a 20 to 25% permanent price reduction.

If you are not comfortable with the installer coming without the code signing certificate, there is the option to purchase our applications through the Windows Store. The applications on our website would still work the same way as they have always do.

Year End Review 2017

2017 has been a challenging year behind the scene.

With the release of Windows 10 Anniversary Update last year, Microsoft made it possible for traditional Windows Application such as ours to be hosted on the Windows Store. Seeing the changing Windows landscape, we jumped onboard. As of now, we have 8 of our Windows Application listed in the Windows Store.

The introduction of SmartScreen in Windows increasingly made it harder for us as a small virtual outfit to distribute our applications independently. Initially, only Internet Explorer would issue on an onscreen warning when downloading an installer which is not code-signed. Now SmartScreen Filter is part of the Windows so no matter where the installer have been downloaded, it will still issue a prompt and made it difficult for applications to be installed.

During the last 5 years, we had to jump through many hoops to get the necessary documents which was required to purchase the code signing certificate. Even after signing the applications with the code signing certificate, SmartFilter will still continue to prompt that the application may not be safe.

Additionally, the certificate authority which we were using and a few others may have their authorization revoked which means it gets harder to get a certificate. Being a small virtual outfit, it is challenging and expensive to get through the necessary steps.

Coming 2018, if we are unable to resolve the codesigning issue, we will probably be forced to not codesign our Windows application installers available on this website. Technically this is what you need to do.

This will begin the installation of the application.

However, on the Windows Store, all our applications comes signed with the Windows Store Certificate so they will clear all SmartScreen Filters.

We will be getting all our applications on the Windows Store. I believe that’s the direction that Microsoft wants us to take as more users  are using Windows 10.

Memory Pictures v1.08 and Memory Pictures Viewer v1.09 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Memory Pictures v1.08 and Memory Pictures Viewer v1.09. In this update, we included the following updates

  • Photos are now rotated based on the EXIF Header in the Thumbnail Sidebar and in the Preview
  • Photos are rotated based on the EXIF Header in the Load Files Preview

Batch TIFF Resizer v3.48 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of Batch TIFF Resizer v3.48.

Here are the changes in this update

  • Fixed bug which causes the Preview Page Number to be disabled when the prior selection is a single page PDF
  • Improved PDF Image Preview

Batch It Pro v5.62 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Batch It Pro v5.62.

In this update, the bug which causes the second resizing by percentage to follow the first has been fixed. At the same time, the checkboxes not saving the state has also been fixed.
