CM PDF Page Extractor 1.1.1

We are pleased to announce the release of CM PDF Page Extractor v1.1.1 on the Mac App Store. This version includes an updated Preview Engine which brings it one step closer to releasing a Windows version of this application.

Updates on CM TIFF 2 PDF and CM PDF Page Extractor

We are happy to announce that the migration to the new PDF Engine has been completed for both CM TIFF 2 PDF and CM PDF Page Extractor.

The CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.1.0 which comes with the new engine is available on the Mac App Store now while the CM PDF Page Extractor v1.1.0 is currently in review, it should be made available when the Apple’s review team is back to work at the end of the year.

From here, we will be making several changes to these two apps while we embarked on developing Windows version of these apps within the first quarter of 2012. This would involve making all Mac-Only features generic between the two platforms.

As you may noticed, we removed the Quartz Filter option in the two apps which is Mac only. We will be replacing the current OS X Preview Windows with our own PDF Previewer in future updates.

Our ultimate goal would ensure that the majority of our apps would work under both OS X and Windows.

CM TIFF 2 PDF (Mac) v1.1.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.1.0 on the Mac App Store.

This version features a brand new more robust PDF engine. The 2gb file limit is a thing of the past. You could easily handle files with more than 100 pages. This new engine writes to file at every page as opposed to the old engine which stores the created PDF in memory and writes to disk after the entire PDF file is generated.

No longer would you encounter crashes, malformed or blank pages. If you are using the older version of CM TIFF 2 PDF, please update to the latest version which is available at the AppStore.

Trial Version for Mac

We announced that we have gone exclusively on the Mac App Store for all our Mac Apps so as to streamline the development and to harness the “App Store Only” features for our apps.

We however received emails from potential customers who want to try before buying our apps. As we have pretty much cleared the bulk of the development for the OS X Lion compatibility and Cocoa transition, we are looking at offering the option to download a trial copy of our apps from our website and also to option to purchase them off our site instead of the Mac App Store.

However, in line with the new development, the minimum specification would be an Intel Mac running OS X 10.6. The updates would be made within 72 hours of the release at the App Store. This will allow us to align the version on both the Mac App Store and on our website.

The Mac App Store does provide us with the opportunity to offer our apps to a wider audience but several shortcomings with face on the App Store is the lack of personal contact with our customer base and the obvious lack of the ability to offer trial versions.

We certainly want to minimize disappointed customers and be able to offer you the opportunity to try the app before purchasing them either on the App Store or our site.

Stay Tune. We should probably be able to finalize this before the end of the 2011.

CM Note Keeper Backup Issue

It appears that under OS X 10.7 Lion, the Sandboxing requirement is causing some issues in regards to overwriting the backed up database file.

The workaround would be to save the Backed Up Database file as a different filename from the suggested name. Alternatively, you could manually delete the backup file before doing the Backup Database operation.

At the moment, we still do not have any resolution to this issue as we need Apple to address the issue.

As such, we have submitted CM Note Keeper v1.1.3 which would vary the suggested filename of the backup file to include the DateStamp as part of the filename, this will prevent the likelihood of the files from being overwritten. If all things goes on smoothly, this update should be available for download at the Mac App Store within the next 10 to 14 days pending their approval process.

We apologized for the inconvenience caused.
