CM TIFF 2 PDF (Mac) v1.1.0 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.1.0 on the Mac App Store.

This version features a brand new more robust PDF engine. The 2gb file limit is a thing of the past. You could easily handle files with more than 100 pages. This new engine writes to file at every page as opposed to the old engine which stores the created PDF in memory and writes to disk after the entire PDF file is generated.

No longer would you encounter crashes, malformed or blank pages. If you are using the older version of CM TIFF 2 PDF, please update to the latest version which is available at the AppStore.

New PDF Engine for Mac Apps

We understand that there is a fundamental design flaw with the current built-in Mac OS X PDF Engine which we are currently employing which stores all PDF pages in memory prior to saving them. When converting large number of TIFF images or pages to PDF, the application may run out of usable memory and thus either crashes or you get a resultant PDF file with missing or malformed pages. This issue only affects PDF files with more than 100 pages.

Currently, we are exploring an alternative solution which does a more efficient method of memory management. This will result in writing all converted PDF pages to file and thus does not result in huge memory usage. The advantage is that it can handle unlimited number of pages and thus allow PDF Files to be over the 2gb file limit. However, when working in file mode, this would result in a slightly slower processing speed.

As the App Store would no longer be accepting any updates for the week while it shuts down, we should have the solution available for CM TIFF TO PDF and CM Page Extractor at the beginning of January 2012.

We apologized for the inconvenience caused.

CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.0.6 Update

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.0.6 on the Mac App Store.

This update contains the following changes

* Fixed Bug which causes the Help File not to Launch in Preview due to a permission issue.
* Add Contextual Menu Option “Delete” for the File Listing
* Add Quicklook Preview Window
* Fixes a Bug which causes the app to crash with a blank Window when the Save In Folder is set to [Source Folder] and when a change of image quality is applied.

CM Batch Photo Resizer v1.1.10 (Mac) Released

We are pleased to announce the release of CM Batch Photo Resizer v1.1.10 (Mac) on the Mac App Store. This version fixes an issue with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion which prevents the help file from launching from within the sandboxed. The workaround was to launch the PDF help file from our website.

This version also adds the contextual menu option to Delete File from the File Listing.

CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.0.5 Update

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.0.5 on the Apple App Store.

The Update contains several enhancements which includes

* The inclusion of “Resize to (%)” option which allows you to resize the tiff files before inclusion in the PDF output file

* The inclusion of “Picture Quality” option which allows you to determine the JPEG and PNG image quality that would be saved in the PDF output file.

The above options would substantially reduce the file size of the output file.

One major fundamental internal is the Sandboxing of the Application which is a requirement of the Apple App Store for OS X Lion. So far OS X 10.7 Lion users, what this means for CM TIFF 2 PDF is that each time you launch CM TIFF 2 PDF, you will need to select the folder to save the output PDF in. This is no longer saved for OS X Lion users. This does not affect Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard users.

Thank you once again for your patience and hope you enjoy using CM TIFF 2 PDF. As always, if you do encounter any issues or have any suggestions to improve this app, please feel free to contact us as support@batchimage.com

You can get the free update to CM TIFF 2 PDF from the App Store using the App Store App.

CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.0.1 Released

In this new update, we fixed two bugs. One is the handling of CCITT G2 Photometric settings where some images come with black text and white background and others are set with white text and black background. It appears that there is no real one way about it.

The other is better file name sort handling. In the prior version if you have file names like “1,2 and 10”, if you sort, it will show up as “1,10 and 2” since the sort is done by text order which is correct. However numbers are numbers and we added support to evaluate that part of the file names as numbers and not as text.
