Scheduling Task on Windows

We are a society of task driven people and it would be nice if such tasks can be automated so that we can set them once and forget. Automating a task on Windows may sound complicated but by no means, it meant to be so. It probably will take under 10 minutes to set up a task in Windows’ Task Scheduler and you are set.

Both Batch TIFF Resizer and Batch It Ultra comes with versions that support Command Line parameters which is the starting point for task scheduling. These includes the Command Line Edition and the Server Edition. Both of which are made with different users in mind. The Command Line Edition is made to automate your personal task on your desktop and the Server Edition is made to run a central server or web server. Knowing that Microsoft Windows has an excellent scheduling system in place, it did not make sense to mirror it.

Getting the Best JPEG Quality and File Size

As I’ve mentioned in a prior tutorial on Lossless JPEG Rotation, through the years of experience, I find that setting JPEG Quality to 75% would yield the best file size to quality ratio. JPEG or JPG is probably one of the most used image format because it uses a compression algorithm which provides the smallest possible file size amongst all the other 24 bit image formats and that is important when it comes to putting pictures on the web. You wouldn’t want to have to wait several minutes to view a picture on the ultra-expensive LTE mobile data line so file size is essential.

Batch It Ultra v5.18 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Batch It Ultra v5.18. This is a bug fix update.

It fixes two bugs relating to the “By Cropping” option. The first is when the Crop Dimension is selected visually via the Preview image, the Resizing Method is switch to “By Frame”. The second issue the cropping dimension does not respect the Width and Height parameters by rather uses the start X and Y points as the Height and Width. These issues have been fixed and Batch It Ultra v5.18 is available for immediate download at our website at https://www.batchimage.com/downloads

Batch It Ultra v5.17 Released

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Batch It Ultra v5.17.

This fixes a crash when the Resizing Method is set to By Frame and either the frame width or height is set to 0 or an invalid entry.

It also fixes a bug which caused the application to ignore the frame dimensions and uses the resized dimensions when By Frame is used.

We are pleased to announce the immediate release of Batch It Ultra v5.14. This update contains internal updates to improve memory management and spots an updated imaging engine.

Batch It Ultra v5.12 Released

We are please to announce the immediate release of Batch It Ultra v5.12.

In prior version, the Image Filename Format will not be used if it did not contain either the original filename or running number. This is to prevent situations where the files will be renamed by a latter file as all files will have the same name. However we have made an exception to allow for filename format which contains a minimum of [NN] and [SS] from v5.12 onwards.

  • Fixed Bug which causes the Clear button to disable when loading files via command line
