Roadmap for Our Windows Apps (2012-2014)

Last year we began developing applications for the Mac while still activating developing for the Windows platform. With the release of Batch It Ultra v4.0 in March 2012, we concluded the major rewrite of all our core Windows applications which began in 2008. All our applications have been tested on the latest Windows operating including the Preview version of Windows 8.

During the development of our Mac applications, we took steps to compile the applications for the Windows platform. This brought about the release of our CM series of applications which includes CM Batch Photo Processor, CM ComboTIFF, CM PDF Page Extractor, CM PDF Merge, CM Note Keeper and CM TIFF 2 PDF. Although the applications work great on the Mac environment, we are not terribly excited about their performance as these applications were develop on the Mac platform.

As such, we will be embarking on the next major phase of our development. We are working towards developing for the 64bit platform. We feel that the time is ripe for 64bit applications with many of our clients using Windows 7 and probably the new Windows 8 Operating System. We will continue to support the 32bit Windows Operating System as far as possible. The 64bit platform would allows us to address larger memory sizes which would be useful for larger image dimensions.

The 64bit Windows Operating System such as Windows 7 and Windows 8 would continue to support 32bit applications. Currently, all our applications are 32bit applications.

To begin this new phase, we will begin working on a brand new version of CM ComboTIFF, CM PDF Page Extractor, CM PDF Merge and CM TIFF 2 PDF for Windows. We will began development on the Windows platform to ensure optimum performance for these applications. We should expect the first roll our before the year end.

We will be looking to begin developing 64bit version of our Imaging Applications in 2013. This will represent the next phase of rebuilding those applications from ground up and expect the release at the middle of 2014.

CM PDF Page Extractor (Windows) v1.1.2 Launched

We are pleased to announce the release of CM PDF Page Extractor for Windows. The conversion project from Mac-Only to a Cross Platform Application began in November 2011 which saw us experimenting with several different PDF Engine which could work on both Windows and Mac. Once we acquired the license, we began work implementing the new engine and shifting away from Mac only controls. We are pleased that our effort paid off and we could offer this application to the Windows community.

CM PDF Page Extractor is an application which allows you to extract pages and range of pages from a PDF or a Multi-Page TIFF File and convert them to a Multipage TIFF, PDF, JPG or PNG File. It allows you to select a range of pages to include. You could set it to output the extracted pages from each file into another individual output file or combine them to generate a single PDF file. By combining several pages together from different or a single PDF Files would allow you to discard certain pages which you do not want and generate a brand new PDF file.

The CM PDF Page Extractor for Windows is available for sale on our website and a 21 days trial version is also available for immediate download. This application retails for US$39.99.

The Mac version is available for OS X 10.6.6 and above on the Mac App Store.

CM TIFF 2 PDF (Windows) v1.1.2

We are pleased to announce the release of CM TIFF 2 PDF (Windows) v1.1.2. This is the initial Windows release of this application.

During the last 6 months, we have been busy behind the scene redesigning the PDF Generation to support both the Mac and Windows platform. The initial CM TIFF 2 PDF relies on the Mac OS X Core Graphic engine to generate the PDF files but using it means that we could not bring this Application to the Windows platform. We made a radical redesign of the application around a cross-platform PDF engine and thus the birth of CM TIFF 2 PDF for Windows. Not only does it support both Windows and Mac, it also significantly relies less on your computer memory as all pdf generation are done on file. This move allows you to create huge PDF file without crashing. The size of the PDF file that it can work with would be dependent on your operating system.

This application allows you to convert Single and Multipage TIFF, PNG and JPEG Files into PDF files (either one PDF file per input file or combine all the files into a single PDF file). The application also allows you to set Author Name, Subject and Title to the PDF file.

CM TIFF 2 PDF (Windows) retails for US$24.99 and it is available on sale on Plimus through our website order link. You can find a 21 days trial version from our website under Download.

We are in the midst of converting our other Mac only application to Windows.

CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.1.2

We are pleased to announce the release of CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.1.2 on the Mac App Store.

This version contains a fix which prevented the preview window to clear when the list is emptied. As suggested, we moved the Combined Filename and checkbox to the Main Window so you do not need to navigate through the Preference window to do that.

CM PDF Page Extractor v1.1.0

We are please to announce the release of CM PDF Page Extractor v1.1.0. This update comes with an updated and more efficient PDF engine.

This update is available on the Apple AppStore.

We are working on a windows version which would be available within the next few weeks.

Updates on CM TIFF 2 PDF and CM PDF Page Extractor

We are happy to announce that the migration to the new PDF Engine has been completed for both CM TIFF 2 PDF and CM PDF Page Extractor.

The CM TIFF 2 PDF v1.1.0 which comes with the new engine is available on the Mac App Store now while the CM PDF Page Extractor v1.1.0 is currently in review, it should be made available when the Apple’s review team is back to work at the end of the year.

From here, we will be making several changes to these two apps while we embarked on developing Windows version of these apps within the first quarter of 2012. This would involve making all Mac-Only features generic between the two platforms.

As you may noticed, we removed the Quartz Filter option in the two apps which is Mac only. We will be replacing the current OS X Preview Windows with our own PDF Previewer in future updates.

Our ultimate goal would ensure that the majority of our apps would work under both OS X and Windows.
